Gen. Miguel Malvar Y. Carpio is the National Hero born from Sto. Tomas, Batangas, particularly in Brgy. San Miguel. He was a Filipino General who served during Philippine Revolution and Philippine-American War and was the last General to surrender to the Americans. His monuments stands proud and dignifies holding his sword infront of the City Hall in Poblacion 1. The museum that displays his memorabilia such as photos, paintings and other documents providing information about his life is located in the same grounds besides the monument

JOSE P. LAUREL MONUMENT
The monument was unveiled during 85th Birth Anniversary of Dr. Jose P. Laurel in 1976. This monument was constructed through the efforts of the Jose P. Laurel Memorial Foundation. This six-foot tall bronze monument was crafted by Professor Anastacio Caedo at the amount of P 180,000.00 and was inaugurated by President Ferdinand Marcos Sr. and Mrs. Imelda Marcos. Also on the same say, Pres. Marcos renamed the Sto. Tomas-NAsugbu Road as the President Laurel Highway. The renaming of the highway became official through the Presidential Decree No. 943.
